Scott Stanley
Scott Stanley is from High Point, North Carolina, and graduated from NC State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Coaching Education. He spent three years as a Student Equipment Manager with NC State Football, gaining experience in the daily operations of a Division I athletic program. Working alongside coaches, players, and staff taught him the importance of preparation, accountability, communication, attention to detail, and teamwork.
Scott also spent three years coaching high school basketball while attending NC State. During his sophomore year, he served as an Assistant Basketball Coach at Wheatmore High School before joining Wakefield High School in Raleigh as an Assistant Coach during his junior and senior years. These experiences allowed him to work directly with student-athletes in practices, game preparation, and player development while developing his coaching philosophy. During his senior year, Scott joined NC State Men's Basketball as a Student Manager, gaining experience with practice analytics, Synergy and film analysis, scouting, individual workouts, and player development. These opportunities strengthened his passion for coaching and provided valuable perspectives at both the high school and Division I levels.
Outside of athletics, Scott helped raise awareness for men's mental health, reinforcing his belief in supporting others and building strong communities. Through the VCU Center for Sport Leadership, he hopes to continue growing as a leader and expanding his knowledge of collegiate athletics. His long-term goal is to become a college basketball coach and impact student-athletes both on and off the court.
