VCU Center for Sport Leadership is celebrating its 25th Anniversary during the 2024-25 school year. The program kicked off the milestone with an alumni reunion on August 17 at Richmond historic Hippodrome Theater.
"What the CSL is about, what we try to be about, is relationships. (This event) we believe is a great demonstration of that. We think it's why what we are doing works," said Executive Director Carrie LeCrom, Ph.D. during her remarks to the crowd.
More than 200 guests, including 133 alumni attended the reunion.
The program was founded in 1999 as the SportsCenter, modeled after the VCU's highly acclaimed BrandCenter. In 2008, the program was rebranded Center for Sport Leadership. It has been ranked among the top 10 graduate programs in the world by Sport Business, a publication based in London.
"To have so many alums come from all over the country, all over the world, to join us for this special occasion speaks to the affection people have for the program," said LeCrom.
"We should be proud of what this program has accomplished over the past 25 years, but the best is yet to come, " said Murray Littlepage, Class of 2012 graduate and new alumni board president.
CSL Alumni Advisory Board members were recognized during a short program. Outgoing board members were thanks for their service and new board members were welcomed.
We are planning more events throughout the academic year to engage alumni, highlight the program's success, and look to the future.
