CSL Alumni Share Experience, Insight on Duke Visit

CSL alumni working at Duke, like Senior Associate AD for Internal Relations Troy Austin, spoke with our graduates students on our visit and tour of their athletic department

CSL students felt the calm before the storm standing in the middle of Cameron Indoor Stadium 48 hours before the big game against cross-town rival Carolina. The CSL annual trip to Duke University just happened to fall the week of one of college basketball’s most anticipated match ups.

Art Chase, Senior Associate Director of Athletics/External Affairs, kicked off the visit by speaking to the cohort about the culture at Duke Athletics, and offered his advice on applying for jobs, resume building, and networking. CSL alums Troy Austin, Class of '04 and Rasheed Davis, Class of '18 stopped by to share some of their wisdom as well. Austin is now the Senior Associate Director of Athletics/Internal Affairs and Davis is a Marketing Intern.

CSL Students also had the privilege of listening to Nina King, Senior Deputy Director of Athletics/Administration/Legal Affairs & Chief of Staff, and Zach White, Senior Director of Development/Iron Dukes. “I love my job. I love coming into the office every day and feeling like I’m where I’m supposed to be,” King told our students.

Bob Weisman, Senior Associate Director of Athletics/Athletic Facilities, Game Operations & Championships gave CSL grad students a behind-the-scenes tour of Duke’s outstanding athletic facilities, including the famous Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The CSL and Duke have a long standing, valuable partnership and the CSL looks forward to this trip each year.
