The inaugural RVA Sports Awards were a celebration of the past, present and future of Richmond's vibrant and diverse community. The Center for Sport Leadership was a proud sponsor of the firs time event Saturday night at the Greater Richmond Cnovention. More than 400 people attended including more than two dozen CSL alumni, students, faculty and staff.
The Center for Sport Leadership was one of two beneficiaries of the event. CSL Executive Director Carrie LeCrom accepted a scholarship donation of $2,500 from the Richmond Region Tourism Foundation.
"This is what leadership looks like," said LeCrom in her speech, referencing the sport leaders in attendance, most of whom are partners of the CSL. "We are grateful for this donation, which will help further our mission to develop the next genration of leaders in sport."
CSL alumna Kelli Lemon and CSL Director of Communications Greg Burton presented the first ever Power of Sport Award to Richmond native and Super Bowl Champion Michael Robinson in honor of the work he does in the East End where he grew up. After his acceptance speech, Robinson was suprised with a $5,000 donation to his Excel to Excellence Fouindation from the Center for Sport Leadership.
